A Summer Wedding at The Hayshed
There are few things that feel more Central West than a sweltering summer wedding surrounded by open countryside. Charles and Ishana’s January wedding at The Hayshed brought together family and friends from around the world for a big cultural wedding against a relaxed country backdrop.
And it was sweltering. But as the afternoon moved towards the reception, the weather started to change. Rain and lightning rolled across the distance, just managing to avoid the wedding and leaving us with a dramatic Central West sky instead.
Their guests travelled internationally to be there, making their wedding a great example of what makes the Central West such a special place for a destination wedding. You can have the charm and open spaces of the countryside, while still creating a celebration that feels every bit as exciting as a big city wedding.
The Hayshed, between Orange and Bathurst
The Hayshed is a Wedshed-approved wedding venue located between Orange and Bathurst, surrounded by the rolling countryside of the Central West. It combines the rustic character you’d hope for from a country wedding with the space and flexibility to host a larger celebration.
There’s something about that combination that works particularly well for couples who want country charm with big wedding energy. It feels relaxed and distinctly Central West, while still giving couples the space to bring together all their favourite people for a proper celebration.
A Central West destination wedding
With guests travelling internationally to celebrate with Charles and Ishana, their wedding was a reminder that you don’t necessarily need to head to Sydney, the Hunter Valley or further afield to create a destination-worthy wedding.
The Bathurst and Orange region is home to some incredible wedding venues, surrounded by vineyards, farmland, historic properties and the wider Central West landscape. For couples travelling from Sydney, interstate or overseas, it offers the chance to turn a wedding into a weekend away, with plenty to explore before and after the big day.
And for the wedding itself? A venue like The Hayshed gives you that country wedding backdrop with big wedding energy.
For Charles and Ishana, it was a celebration of five different heritages, a room full of people who had travelled a long way to be there, and a sweltering January day that somehow managed to stay dry when it mattered.
